PTAs & PTOS
The WSISD elementary and intermediate schools have Parent Teacher Associations (PTA) or Parent Teacher Organizations (PTO), advocacy organizations for children that promote parent involvement by organizing and directing informative programs and workshops to assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their kids.
The PTA/PTO teaches parents ways to keep children safe, trouble-free and involved in school. It provides an opportunity for parents to meet and talk with others who have the same concerns, and it gives them a support system and introduces them to new activities and opportunities to share their special talents. As a member, you are more likely to be an informed, involved parent. Studies have shown that membership in PTA provides your child and other kids around you with a greater chance of achieving in school. The organizations meet monthly.
Booster Clubs
Parents and citizens support the high school and middle school athletic, CTE and fine arts organizations through their participation in parent-led booster clubs.
Contact your school office for additional information about these programs and organizations or the Communications Office at (817) 367-5389.
